JSPANM Official Journal: Journal of Anesthesia and Nursing (JAN)
The Journal of Anesthesia and Nursing (JAN) is an open-access electronic journal for all professionals involved in perioperative care (anesthesiologists, nurses, clinical engineers, pharmacists, etc.). It supports evidence-based, high-quality medical and nursing practice and aims to advance perioperative medicine and patient care.
JAN values research arising from clinical questions, even small-scale studies, provided they are based on proper design, sound analysis, and thoughtful discussion. This allows the journal to serve an educational role, supporting novice researchers in their first steps in academia.

This journal takes allegations of research misconduct—including but not limited to data fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, inappropriate authorship, and duplicate submission—very seriously. Any suspected cases will be handled rigorously in accordance with the guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The Editorial Board may request an explanation from the authors regarding the matter and, if necessary, may contact or report the issue to the authors’ institutions.
Specifically, if research misconduct is confirmed, the following measures will be taken:
Rejection of the manuscript. If the article has already been published, it will be retracted.
Publication of a retraction note or editorial to inform the readership of the issue.
In cases of serious violation, the authors may be barred from submitting to the journal for a specified period.
Notification of the authors’ institutions and/or research funding agencies.
Compliance with these ethical standards is the responsibility of all authors. By submitting a manuscript to this journal, the authors certify that they have adhered to these principles.
Originality
All manuscripts and related materials are considered for publication on the understanding that they are not previously published and that neither the entire work nor any substantial part of it is under consideration for publication by another journal. With the exception of scientific abstracts, submissions will not be accepted if a significant portion of the work has already been published elsewhere.
If you are uncertain whether a portion of your work constitutes prior publication, please submit the title page and abstract of the material in question to the “Journal of Anesthesia and Nursing” along with your manuscript for evaluation.
Authorship
The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) provides clear criteria for authorship. Eligibility for authorship must be determined in accordance with these guidelines: https://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/roles-and-responsibilities/defining-the-role-of-authors-and-contributors.html
All individuals who sign the Certification Form are considered to have guaranteed the accuracy and validity of the manuscript’s content. Once a manuscript has been received by the editorial office, changes to authorship will not be permitted.
Peer Review Process
Submitted manuscripts are evaluated based on their novelty, validity, originality, and significance. All manuscripts undergo an initial screening by an editor. If a manuscript is deemed suitable for consideration, it will be sent for peer review by at least two independent reviewers.
In general, authors will be notified of the editorial decision (acceptance, rejection, or request for revision) within 12 weeks.
This journal employs a single-blind peer review process. In this model, the reviewers’ identities are concealed from the authors, but the authors’ identities are known to the reviewers.
When selecting editors and reviewers, we make every effort to avoid individuals who are current or recent collaborators or who are affiliated with the same institution as the authors. However, exceptions may occur, particularly in highly specialized or emerging fields, or for authors involved in large-scale international collaborations.
